From the day 5 race report:
Cap 225, Sue Paz Thunström –“My back hurts, neck hurts, pretty much whole body hurts and brain that keeps asking what the #%* are you doing. And still right now there is no other place we would rather be or do than right here doing this.”

Lael has done a fantastic job to get closer to Jakub, who himself is going great. Think they are now on that treacherous downhill section. Good luck to skinny, glad to see him moving again.

So Jay took an 8 hour rest compared to Lael and Jakob's 4, assume that's intentional and he can now push through to the end where as they will need another rest?
-

His pace has looked pretty zapped for a few days now.

Jay was complaining of stomach problems etc on one of the videos I saw, seems he's flagging. Lael has done amazing reeling in Jakub. If it's down to experience, then she could take this, but Jakub looks is decent shape.

There was a post the other day and it said Jay ate that day a jar of nutella, he poured half out and filled it back up with peanut butter and honey

I thought exactly this when I read he was complaining of stomach problems

Skinny you absolute champion x

Skinny within 1km of Luca Petrinka who's currently in 7th position.

There was a podcast on the Race to the Rock bikepacking race - I've been looking for the link, but can't find it, where one of the racers describes doing just this- in his view, it's literally the only way to pack in enough calories and fat in easily edible form over a realistic time-frame!

Yeah, Galibier is 2.642km so that looks quite wrong.

Think the K should be an M ;-)

Fixed.

Sounds like my dotwatching diet to be honest. You have got to keep fuelled.

Skinny past Luca, chasing down Kurt Verheyden in the next half hour or so.
-
• #717
I say half hour, they're level at the moment. Go on Skinny!

• #718
Skinny in 6th now for sure! Absolutely reeling them in. The rest probably threw off his plan but he's back with vengeance

I'm so glad it's a bank holiday weekend! This is getting so good now he's back in the game! :)

Once skinny’s in that valley he’ll put the hammer down and fly along. Anyone reckon he might overhaul Jeff?
-

Claw back a top-5 likely but he's >100k down on 4th. How much 'rest' did he get if he was hanging around talking to cops? Unlikely he was just asleep for all of that time off even if he wasn't pedaling it's a stressful thing he's gone through. Obviously, I'm sending him all my 'fucking crush it' vibes still.

Saw something on instagram from him saying his body started to shut down and become painful from stopping for too long. Hope he can get back in the swing of things soon. Not that he isn't moving quick now!
-
• #723
Yeah, definitely. Everything starts to seize up so when you start again it's horrible. But he'll warm up again and hopefully gets the fight up and smashes it.

Lael's pace has dropped vs Jakub. He's coming up to the last ascent shortly and due a rest stop. There have been some crazy good newbie performances this year: Jacob Fryatt in IPWR, Fiona in TCR, to some extent Abdullah in TABR (his second race, but he's still fresh on the scene) now Jakub has done this. The last pass; Kok Airyk sounds quite grim.

How come skinny's next victim doesn't appear on the profile when I click their name?
I think top 5 or maybe 4 is in reach. Jay is too far with "only" 400km to go.
