That was the response I got, if you phone them you might have more luck convincing them to replace it, it sounds like a pretty common problem/ issue with their design?
I can see other "for parts or repairs" units on ebay with the power button blown out like mine so it's clearly shitty durability rubber used on their units. It's well out of warranty but I still hate the fact a few hundred quid worth of perfectly functional electronics is basically now useless.
