  • There is a strip of fabric behind the zip, but the seals don’t meet in the middle- the zipper is exposed, and I had a wet stripe down my front as a result. Great idea though I think.

Whilst I’m on the subject their sizing is a bit, erm, optimistic. I am 187cm/84kg and there sizing tool makes me an XL. I have an L, and in reality having worn the suit for a couple of days I should be in an M.

  • Oh wow, that's even worse than I had expected.

If you want actually waterproof zips, as opposed to some level of water resistance, you want YKK Aquaseal.

  • Yeah, it’s not great. I am interested in what Dirtlej have to say about it, will report back.

  • Struggling a bit today, going off line to avoid the braking bumps as they’ve really hammered my left wrist over the past few days, which given how slippery it is right now isn’t ideal, and whilst I now have a pretty good grasp of the theory of jumping just doing everything at the wrong time.

  • Be very interesting getting back on my Scalpel after a week on the Megatower, looking forward I that. I’m pretty certain I’ll get a Hightower now, question is which one.

  • question is which one

    The lightest one, or gtfo

  • Has one tried Sealskinz socks yet ?

Loved them when racing, as i used gumsole airwalks.... famous for being waterproof (not)

Merino lined sealskinz, warm when wet, as over the course of a long day in the wet water can run down into them.

  • When I came in yesterday I literally poured water out of my shoes, and couldn’t really feel either of my feet. Took standing in the hit shower for five minutes before circulation came back - at which point my feet went bright red. Painful.

  • I'm going to put this thread on ignore, before you start posting pictures of your feet again

  • Yeah, no point replacing that tyre yet. It's practically new!

  • I’m pretty certain I’ll get a Hightower now, question is which one.

Whichever comes with a Fox 36

  • Fox 36 step cast

    ftfy

  • Hmm, the ones I’m looking at have Rockshox Lyric. You vote for the Fox 36?

  • Nah I just wondered if one of the differences between the two was one had a 34 and one a 36.

  • 36 and Lyric are the options, can you get a 150mm 34?

  • can you get a 150mm 34?

In 27.5 ya. Not sure about 29, never looked.

There was bitching about the 34 in 27.5 150mm flavour being bendy.

  • That tyre punctured again, which I suspect will surprise nobody, but it was a small and unimportant part of a fun final day.

I’m going to drive back to Rambouillet tomorrow, but I’ll be back in Morzine with a bike next year.

  • Are you going to buy a frame and build a hightower or buy one complete?

I'm not sure if the C version is available as a frame only.
But I'd be tempted to save the cash and go for the C instead of CC.
Its alleged to be about 300g lighter. Never seen any articles actually confirm that with side by side weigh in of each frame though.
I have a Nomad CC and my 5010 is just the single C peasant version.
They aren't the same bike so can't compare directly but the 5010 doesn't feel cheap or heavy.
