  • I arrived yesterday too, my time was 54:58. Quite pleased with that, with post TCR body. My plan was to just see how things develop with my mind open to riding fast but also wine and croissants. Though having spent the last couple of weeks in France the boulangeries didn't seem that exiting anymore so I mostly concentrated on riding. In group D that did catch some of thegroups ahead, I rode with a good pace for the first 500 km or so. I had shorter stops than others so usually left earlier and joined a group when they catch me. The next 500 km I mostly rode alone, as it was more relaxed and I wanted to ride on the aerobar. I slept 1,5 hours somewhere in there too. After also meeting Rory in Brest. Then for the last about 200 km I was in a group with a few of the French riders that carry no gear and three guys from the States. That was really nice, good, relaxed but fast group riding and nice people. Was nice to still have some speed in me and I could stay at the front for much of that. The last parts are rather flat and fast now with Rambouillet as the finish, I vaguely remember the last bit being hard work last time.

It's a wonderful event, all the people on the side of the road cheering, for the whole everyone around you knows what you're doing and is cheering you on, even the drivers, everyone.
