I think meaty lugs are going to help - especially on the way out of summer, as we are. I’m not so fussed about rolling speed as my technical skill is a bit behind how fast I can make the bike go at the moment.
If I got something knobblier like a minion, so I need to size up then? A mate has minions - I think They’re 3.5 but they seemed tiny compared to my 2.2 ikons (I assume that’s something to do with the width being made up of more tyre than knobble?).
Minions can size up smaller (Maxxis in general really) but it can be potluck. The standard 26" 2.5" Minion DHF I had on my Slackline actually measured 2.5". But the 2.35" DHRII I had on the rear measure more like 2.3" (just under). They were Ryde Trace 29 rims, basically 30mm internal width.
