Nice to actually seeing some of Chelsea’s youth playing and doing well. For all his trophies, mourhino was dreadful at bringing through the youth.
All previous managers have had an imperative of winning trophies. Therefore they have used experience. All knew that their tenure depended on immediate success and so couldn’t invest in the long term.
Lampard has been brought in because of the transfer ban. There is no option to buy experience. There is no expectation of success. Indeed Jody Morris is probably the more important of the two at the present as he has worked with the youth asset and knows them.
We won’t achieve much this year but it is already more interesting to watch and we are building towards the future.
