I'm in awe of the crops you guys are getting, we've put in very little effort in our first season, and its showed in our yield, lots of courgettes though and a few potatoes and onions, a lot of them bolted though. I'm slowly amassing timber and plan to build some beds in the autumn ready for next year.

Nice. Our Greengage Plums got wasped... I rescued just enough to steep in half a litre of gin.

Now, there’s an idea. Have bucketloads on the trees still, plus what looks like a bumper damson crop on the way.

Looking good. I came home from a week away to one solitary unspoilt gg.plum remaining on the tree... eating it later, so the wasps can't.

^ my daughter ate the plum whilst I posted on here.
Enough of these coming though.

Ah, nice. What’s the engine size? Am thinking of getting one to clear a really turfy half we have but might actually need a plough...

4hp 4 stroke. It's a bit of a state and my wife insists we paint it celeste 227 which I'm more than OK with.
Our allotment hadn't been turned over for years so going to give it a good rotovate and put some soil conditioner in.
We did raised beds this year, which has been OK but would like to do more in the soil in longer rows.

Ta. Will look out for similar. With carbon rims and disc brakes.
Anyway. When’d you plan to get underway? Would be great to see results :) -

Hmmm when I'm not 100% sure about. I've still got some crops growing, but nothing very productive this year.
Tomatoes seem to be really struggling.

Ours have come through now, bit late, but no blight and good crop, here with black-leaf basil

fucking slugs have eaten all my lettuces. own fault for being v. blasé about them - they'd left them alone up until now but obviously the rain made them hungry.
Nevertheless - carrots are looking good, potatoes are looking good. Released my inner child gorging on foraged blackberries from the empty plot next to ours this morning. Still having a good time.

The other plot, coming along, plus made damson jam from the trees next to it.

We took over a half plot (here in Glasgow) in late May, and it was a complete tip - couch grass waist high and convovulus coming in from the edges. Plus one of the neighbours has taken the wooden structure from the raised beds so it's all slumping. Got rhubarb, lavendar and strawberries in and a couple of tomato plants, but relentless weeding was disheartening so we've just put the raised beds under membrane and we'll leave it til spring.

That looks like a very sensible plan. I'm in the same boat but with more nettles, brambles and bindweed. I'll dig out what I need to put in a few raised beds with the wood I have and then basically do the same and get some manure/compost on there over the autumn winter.

I've just got a rotating composter off someone locally which I'll mainly use for our household waste anyone used one before and got any tips on how often to rotate or whether they're any good?
