• The Lakeland 200 is a great route, some bits may be a bit more interesting if you're fully loaded especially so if it's been wet as mentioned above. I've not ridden the whole route but have done most of it in different sections. It's also easily accessible from the west coast mainline trains which stop in Oxenholme just south of Kendal.

    Depending on how long you've got I'd consider changing the last part of the route by dropping down to Haweswater from High Street and then riding south over Gatescarth pass and staying the night in Mosedale Cottage Bothy which is one of the best I've seen.
