Yes, definitely echoes of unpleasant right-wingery in this. One thing I'm sure they don't like about him is that he actually has quite a lot of courage in the face of adversity, and it's a bit of a classic how they then try to break that with their limited means. This could have ended much worse by the sound of it. Hope it never happens again.
