So this is a garage find via my dad. I want to sell the whole bike as seen. Its a project for sure. Whilst everything works the bike needs love to get it road worthy a proper.
Its a Youngs of Lewisham 531 frame from around the early 1960s I guess. Braze on's for cantilevers. Top tube 57cm ctc and seat tube 59cm ctc. The frame is put together with a lug at the seat post cluster (with a nice Rouke-like wrap over) and the remainder looks fillet brazed? Original paint including logo on the down tube and head tube badge. The paint is great for its age and but there are allot of marks, scratches, blemishes etc. as you would expect.
Has the original steel cinelli stem, the 1950s/1960s one with the screw on badge, plus the original brooks saddle. The other parts are a mix of campagnolo, mafac, GB bars and a shimano 500 rear mech. The wheels (27" 1 1/4) spin fine but I would start again.
I am struggling on what price to ask. For me, the main value is in the frame, saddle and stem. I don't want to be fishing but happy to put this out there and get views on price.
As with most of us, I cant deal with eBay etc. and would much prefer the bike went to someone on here that would restore and ride, rather than strip and sell.
Full list of the parts and pictures to follow.
Based in Crystal Palace, London, SE19 viewing welcome.
