the axle to crown length - on a stock fork Dolan say it's 360mm, and a DF4 fork is supposedly 300mm (I've not measured them). Would this affect the steering?
A fork with a 300mm a2c will not accept a 700c wheel so something’s wrong.
If there is a difference in fork length it’ll be messing about with the headtube angle which could account for the difference in handling.
Ok I have a couple of Dolan PreCursas and on one of them I put a DF4 fork on that I had. The rake went from 35mm to 30mm so I suspected it'd would be more stable (as it has more trail). The bikes are the same aside from having different stems - 100mm on the stock PC and I think 120mm on the DF4 forked one.
In fact the bike feels a lot more twitchy than a stock Pre Cursa. Never really ride them back to back, but did the other day and they were worlds apart. Can't really fathom why, the only thing I can come up with the axle to crown length - on a stock fork Dolan say it's 360mm, and a DF4 fork is supposedly 300mm (I've not measured them). Would this affect the steering?
It's not a huge problem, just was curious why there was such a difference.
