Even though the score doesn't suggest it the batting hasn't been quite as inept as Edgbaston, but any time the Aussie bowlers get on top (and they have bowled well) the wickets just seem inevitable. We're just bereft of anyone who can grind out a difficult spell.

burns seems to have taken up the task, it is just that nobody has stuck around with him. nobody else seems interested in playing themselves in
-
• #7829
You need to bat out the day
-
• #7830
It's driving me spare.
Why is Foakes not there, he is the better wicket keeper and on current form a better batsman?I know there are not many batsmen that are clearly test ready, but there has to be some consideration to finding proper batsmen especially for the top order.
Burns is the only player who looks like he is trying to play test cricket. the rest are really playing hit and giggle.

I don't see much of either at the moment...

Fair point.
Miss and sob? -
• #7833
Woakes and
BairstowArcher both to make 100s. 440 all out. Definitely going to happen. -

Bloody love a bit of Jofra

The Aussies need this last wicket in the next four overs,
or,
Ed Smith's cunning plan of inserting a new ball specialist at No.11 will pay a large dividend
for his innovative selection process. -

Ask and you shall receive...
-
• #7838
Yep, Bairstow J. unable to play the supporting role to a proven pitch performer.
Aussies 409 all out 25 minutes before Tea on Saturday.
England just about make it to Sunday.
Aussies win by 8 wickets before lunch. -

You'd expect more grit from a Warner - Bancroft partnership
-
• #7840
Warner seems to have three lives every innings.
And still can't score more than 10
-
• #7841
I think they found the grit in Bancroft's trousers and confiscated it some time last year
-
• #7842
grit, get it?
-
• #7843
Such coarse humour...
-
• #7844
Well, at least Surrey won tonight
-
• #7845
Ah, that’s why it was mad busy around the Oval last night on the way home.
-
• #7846
Also, my Aussie wife has gone to Berlin for a few days and thus I’m spared the usual awkward silence as she tries not to gloat.
-
• #7847
Really poor from Archer this morning, just lots of nothing short balls. Just bloody pitch it up and get them driving. And now Woakes is doing the same!
-
• #7848
Jofraaaaaaa
-
• #7849
ONE BRINGS TWO!

finally, when he starts bowling to hit the stumps!
Why do the sectors always change bowlers when the batting fails? its been like this for decades. It feels like England have decided to play 5 number 7s and no proper batsmen.
Whats the betting if the bowlers perform well and Australia still win, 2 seamers will be dropped?
