But anyway, it's interesting that races like SRMR are getting bigger. As it's less like a bike race and more about surviving. Like ITI kind of. Though ITI is kind of too weird, a bike race with the average speed of walking.

That Atlas mountain race looks nice. Putting it on my maybe-list.

Oct is no good for me. I'm taking way too much time off already this year. Next year's race sounded interesting though. So does riding TAT. But I'd need to ditch some bikes and look for something with bigger tyre clearances if I was going to start heading off road.

Just realised I rode a pass from the SRMR today, in the opposite direction of the race. Mind is blown. It was so steep and stony I walked our tandem downhill for 3km.
Not to mention washboards. Can't even.

Sounds ideal

Rudy Rollenberg has arrived in Kyrgyzstan. His bike did not survive the trip.

Probably easy enough to replace at this stage?
Hyped for watching this race and PBP. -

Cardboard box. This is why I almost always use a hardcase.

Must've endured some naty shit in order for that to happen

I'm on holiday in Bishkek at the moment, saw number 45 (Lamar Timmins) riding around the centre on a serious bit of kit yesterday, very easy to spot who's racing here. Weather looks a bit more conducive to riding than it was a couple of weeks ago as well, only high 20s rather than getting up to 40° in the day.

Was not expecting a fucking tandem. Respect.

Rider Ben Hudson:
I’m riding a custom Vulcan Bicycle Works frame that I made for a trip to the American southwest a few years ago. Despite the 2.6″ Vittoria tyres (Mezcal/Barzo) it’s really a touring inspired design, the opposite end of the bikepacking spectrum to the other, more trail inspired VBW bike being ridden in this year’s SRMR. As a singlespeed rider, I use the incredibly durable Surly Ultra New rear hub and a White Industries trials freewheel, driven by an Absolute Black oval ch ainring and a long-life ebike chain.

Man’s gotta get his daily flat white from somewhere.
Yeah TAT looks great!
And it seems there'll be two races in Morocco, Morocco bike adventure Andy is organizing this october and Atlas mountain race in 2020. The latter is sponsored by Pedaled and will probably be a bigger event.
