What bag do you use?
Carrying a laptop is the reason I still commute (4-7 km) with a backpack.. Would love to go without, but i'm unsure that a laptop would take kindly to the bumping that comes from going up and down curbs, potholes etc.

I found carradice great for laptop. I’m not precious about mine because it’s the work’s laptop and it’s quite solid anyway, if I was I think a laptop sleeve would bring some peace of mind. Front pannier worked well too but the rack is attached more permanently to the bike.

I've been thinking about this too, and maybe somthing that looks like an upside down SQR-Bagman, and has a neopreen sleve hanging from it would (if the steel rod for the Bagman is springy enough) would be enough for dampening road bumps. Also it would make your bike look more like a shark.

Having to cart a laptop in and out is what keeps me using a rack top bag. I’d love to go rackless (as long as it also means backpack-less)
