  • Currently helping a female friend look for a city bike.

    1. Other than decathalon, Evans, and Cycle Surgery are there any other obvious shops? (Budget around the £350 mark, but could probably go up a bit.)
    2. Size wise, I know trying a bike out is the key, but at 5,4" I guess it's on the boarder between xs and s?
    3. anyone spotted any deals?
    4. Given how shit otp tyres are, does anyone have a suggestion for a nice puncture resistant city tyre? She like the idea of some slight off road so I was trying to find a tyre my OH used to have which was slick in the middle, but then with slight tred on the edges.

    Cheers.

This is looking like the winner atm: https://www.cyclesurgery.com/p/cube-womens-sl-road-2018-Q3214261.html?colour=3609 / https://www.cube.eu/cz/2018/bikes/road/road-cyclocross/sl-road/cube-sl-road-blacknblue-2018-trapeze/
Claris, colour, discs (not that there a must).

(side rant - why are hybrids always so over-geared?!)

  • Cycle Republic (Halfords chain of bike shops) have stuff that meets the criteria.

I like the Marathon Supreme as a puncture resistant city tyre but it won't be great for offroad (although fine for tow paths, dry paths and the like so I'd check what they mean by slight off-road).

Yeah, I asked this immediately. Think Hampsted Heath and tow paths.
