The explanation on the Twitter link is feasible too, he convinced the therapist he wasn't suicidal. Only so much you can do, you can't lock someone in shackles.
(Though some prisoners have been put in suicide watch/isolation lockup for years...but that trick wouldn't fly as everyone is watching, it's actually against human rights laws to do it for so long and he had a good lawyer)
Too bad as he may have taken a lot of secret to the grave, I don't feel too sorry for him.
