  • Schwalbe Kojaks, anyone used these for commuting in London? They look like a nicer ride but how good is that puncture protection belt.

  • I punctured a marathon in London... Got very unlucky with a thumb tack. I regularly ride over glass (have marathon plus on my normal commuter) and happily trade reliability for speed

  • The brompton it chair or milian pere is really expensive but it really works good and the residuals are pretty solid. To me out was worth it for the memories alone

  • I won’t be doing the production, just acting as a “manager” for it

Yes sorry, what I understood, like you did for the rack I suppose?

  • On a similar note. A standard marathon has been gouged by some bits of glass with some chunks out the tread. It is less than 6 months old, is that normal? Smaller tyres presumably get hit more often in the same place than larger ones. My commutes is pretty short (60-80km a week). If marathons have that short a life span I'd either swap them to Kojaks or go to the chunkier marathon plus.

  • Already got means of transporting our son on bikes, so it's a bit madness to spend that much. Would be different if Brompton was the only bike...

  • Schwalbe Ones are sold as having better puncture protection than the Kojaks. Don't know how they compare to the Marathons.

Marathons have a short lifetime? Their name's a bit of a misnomer then!

  • Is there a Brompton bag which actually has a fit for purpose laptop compartment?

I had a look at the common ones in Evans and all there is between the laptop compartment and the metal carrier frame is webbing. No padding whatsoever.

Was thinking of the Barbour Tarras bag but would have to order it online so I can't see for myself.

  • Any of them with a laptop inside a padded sleeve

  • ones and Kojak‘s are not designed to be puncture protective, yes they have a protection layer but that really is the aim of the game, Marathon is a completely different style, can’t really compare them

  • I prefer not to buy or make accessories for accessories if possible.

  • I didn't take a photo of the Brompton after all the new black bits went on, it looks amazing and I can't wait to get the cranks on... Didn't go with the new levers/shifters this time, next year I reckon...

The bars might have to go tho', they're pretty low and wide so the riding position is a little more aggressive than I'd like... Not sure they're gonna survive the trip back anyway, the extra width and sweep is asking for trouble from baggage handlers!!!

  • I think you'll be surprised to find how robust a material c/f is.
    I'll bet they arrive undamaged.

  • I'm sure you're right, they look absolutely terrific, obvs... Bike looks mean AF now, especially with the new rack...

  • Yebutt... if they don't do the job, you are right to let them go.
    They'll suit someone.

  • You got it fitted? Be keen to see a photo when you can!

  • I'm sure you've considered it, but swapping brake levers to the modern version was for me a really really nice and inexpensive upgrade.

  • Have the 2020 colours been announced? Brompton Junction Westfield said they'll be released in October...

  • Awful photos but you get the idea, how do I trim the mudguard? Link me to a video! 🤪

  • Decent big pair of scissors!

  • I was going to do that but they didn't have them in stock at BC and I'd run out of time, I really had to grovel to get the guys to sort me out on Thursday!! There is a shop in Brisbane that stocks Brompton, will pop in and see them in the coming weeks to check out their stock... Swap cranks and change levers/shifters are the last mods!

    And pedals... 😂

  • And then just glue the flap back on?

  • They didn’t have them in stock?!

    Poor show.

Drill/punch a hole and bolt it back on!
