There is no difference between bike packing and touring though, it's the same thing. It's just people camping with bikes.

It's very different and one is cooler than the other.

What’s the distinction between touring and bikepacking? Where is the tipping point? He sleeps in ditches, up mountains or in jungles, sometimes in hotels, sometimes with local people...I’m not sure what the distinction is here?
He doesn’t have a dangly mug or a moustache though.

Bike packing = single/fewer nights away lighter weight kit straps your bike,
Touring = multiple night trips with a lot more load, generally going further afield

Both are touring, bike packing are simply a lightweight way of carrying your stuff.

It allow people without touring bike to go touring, and more importantly. Does not negatively affect the bicycle handling as much.

No reason why you can’t go on a long tour without racks.

All these hipster terms like bike packing and gravel bikes annoy me a bit. So I don't understand that if you're touring with a classic set up with 4 panniers and a handlebar bag you still call it bike packing...
