Whatβs with the cable ties on the rear rack?
-
• #21878
That side's rack mount threads are stripped, so there's a bolt jammed in there and the zip ties hold it in place. On the to-do list is to tap it out to a size bigger!

Any tips on lugged steel ss/fixed framesets with threaded fork and clearance for 35mm + mudguards? For commuting/city use. Sort of this Standert. But preferably in black.

Like the Brother All day?

Been looking at that but it's tigged and has 1 1/8" steerer. I want the ClaSSic LookS.
Was first thinking of restoring a 60-70's frame with lots of clearance but would be too scared to lock that up in the city. It's way easier to find new complete city bikes with "retro" looks that are based around a lugged frameset with 1" steerer. But frames alone are a pain to find.

That combo is difficult, I threw in even more impossible criteria for low q . Ended up with a narrower tire limit, though if you're ok with a 50mm+ chainline Bob Jackson may be able to help you.

Just get the Brother.

Will consider it. I just have a mint Titan Luxe quill stem and Ideale 90 Rebour saddle that call for a lugged frame. Basically want this but fatter tires + gilles bertouds. Must-resist-custom...

I want the ClaSSic LookS.
lugged SS/Fixed with big clearances isn't a classic look... Now 19c tubies. That's classic!

Realize 35+ guards might be a stretch. But i wanna run at least bigger than classic road tires.
I'm more thinking pre-1960's french porteur. Maybe time to drop the idea of finding an OTP frame and start scouting Leboncoin.

One problem to be aware of though, a lot of old french bikes have on the rear brake mount a vertical mount whereas today brakes mount with a bolt that go through horizontally (if it makes sense). Just in case you were planning SS with brakes or anything similar
EDIT: also quill stems on old french bikes are 22 mm diam (instead of traditional 22.2mm)
EDIT2: aaaand the threads will be in French standard (BB and headset), seatpost very small (diameters as low as 24, etc.) etc. etc. etc. you get the point -

Have you thought about getting an old British lugged frame with horizontal drop outs and designed for 27 inch wheels and centre pull brakes?

Dawes Galaxy, every time.
Big clearances but looks elegant in med βΒ larger frame sizes with big rubber and guards.
Can be built to not a totally eye watering weight.

Looking for a 26" wheel, 1" threaded steerer, disc brake fork.
The VO Polyvalent is exactly what I need but they won't sell a fork on its own.
Anyone know of something similar or anyone that might make something similar for me?

I like @cheekysnaker idea but you could also consider smaller wheels? See @russmeyer conversion road bike: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13844485/

6000mm a-2-c tho?
I think the photo makes them look more tilted forwards than they are. It suits my wrists anyway!
