  • No space for a 2" tyre further forward

  • OK then. Go ahead.

  • So I obviously didn't get as far as I'd like. But that's alright. Better slow and steady.

  • I ended up inverting the chainstays as you can see up there ^
I figured it give more space for the crank arms and it ends up with lines similar to an s bend stay.

I am debating whether to go for 16mm or 13mm seatstay wishbone. The bend radius is different so the 16mm will allow bigger tyres and better clearance but 13mm will be more elegant maybe.

Looks like I might be allowed some more free time on Thursday. I can't wait.

  • looking good

  • Thanks buddy. Miss u

  • Fucking around an entire day in the workshop I still got approx zero things done. Thought I had a hole saw appropriate size. I didn't.
Forgot my laptop and could not remember BB drop so had to tag rear end three times before I was happy with the angles and dims.
It ended up more tukt than I intended. But hey ho.

I love my workshop but I gotta find a weekend with the guys I share it with and clean it out for non relevant shit. It is too crowded.

  • That's really fucking nice. Tell those slackers to appreciate the second coming of Metal Jesus.

    Lol

Good work! How do you check the alignment once you've welded them on?

  • I used my jig partly assembled. I just forgot to take a photo.
Will go over everything before final passes with dropout alignment tool and frame alignment tool

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • No worries dude.
I should have tried to describe the process. But I was short for time and first time doing something you always think more about getting it right rather than documenting it

  • This looks like a case of get it right first time or it's staying a mess forever. No way you're getting a file in there are you?

  • You could use a small rotary file, I guess..

  • Die grinder or Dremel

  • Well. There is loads of ways to work it.
I do the fish mouth first. Belt sander is quick.
Then fill it with brass and pull it into the tube with a bit of heat.
Now needle files and emory cloth should clean it up nicely.
The photo is pre soaking it in water which makes it look bad. But I reckon just sand blasting this should get it close enough to acceptable once powder coated. I might not worry to much about this as finishing the bike a riding around with my daughter is first priority.

  • Oh I don’t think it looks like it needs tidying, looks great actually.

Just meant that it looks like it could be tricky to clean up if you did make a mess.

  • I see. Thanks. Yeah the other side needs a bit of work. :)

  • I bought a new TIG welder yesterday. My old one didn't have pulse which made framebuilding pretty painful.
This new one does and also has the option of a foot pedal which will be super sweet and speed up my process.
