  • Been holding onto this for a while after swapping to a new road frameset 'just in case' I want to use it again, but credit card and lack of space mean I'm going to have to let it go.

Really, really lovely frameset in every way, and we'll deserving of its 'cult' status, I just needed something a bit more practical and less sexy.

It's an old frameset so has a fair amount of scuffs and typical oxidation around the bonds, but worst part is a ding to the seat stay which has been there the entire time I've had it and never been an issue. Otherwise what you'd expect from a 12 (?) year old frameset.

Pic here of it built up, and of the actual frameset here:

Price wise, I think £300 posted to the UK (I'm in York) is fair, but happy to hear offers.

    SOLD

  • So swag!

  • Pm’ed

  • Must. Resist.

  • Know the weight as it was built up like that?
    31.6 post? BB30?

  • Such a nice build, don’t suppose your letting the wheels go as well?

  • What's included, fork, headset, stem? Is the bottom bracket still BB30 or is there an adapter in there?

  • Something like 7.2 with those wheels, which weigh 1550 I believe. Easy to get sub 7 I think.

Pictures are coming, Imgur is just having a bit of drama

  • It has newish rotor bb30 bearings in, stem, seatpost and headset included plus carbon bung. I have the original spacers but the steerer is cut to 5mm over that (fat) stem.

  • WYSIWYG

The seatstay looks worse in pictures than it is IRL. There's also a tiny bit of clamp damage around the front mech (predictably) but nothing structural.

  • They're on the new bike. Would highly recommend Stayer if you're looking for a set though!

  • Yeh i’ve heard a lot of good things about them so far!

  • @Alistairgoodman98

Maaaan this thing is soooo sic.
    If only I could fit a 56.a

  • Looking at this make me want the matching stem for mine even more.... just got a red painted frame, love it, shame you have to sell yours. Glws

  • Best road frame I ever had :'|

  • Why not you buy again yes?

  • It's not you it's me... Also BB30

  • Honestly, there's nothing wrong with BB30 if it's assembled right. Majority of the time, people skip certain procedures and that leads to creaking or issues.
Look at it this way, majority of industries use press fit bearings, but it only seems to be the cycle industry that has issues with it. This might be anecdotal, but it does hold a certain amount of truth in it.
For example, certain crank brands offer near zero bearing protection in the form of gaskets or weather sealing, which yeah, might cause issues down the line, but it shouldn't be instant.
Your RSV and my SV are the same.

Build them right, and BB30 is a decent standard. I do it weekly and we rarely have any come back because we fit them how they're meant to be fit.

  • Could you expand upon this in terms of correctly assembling a BB30 bike?

  • Well I replaced my bearings with a hammer. So not that.

  • Ha. I was think more in terms of a definitive answer on what grease/compounds etc.

  • Specialized specify Loctite 640 for BB30 fitting which is stupid expensive unless you get a NOS 10ml from Ebay dude here for £2.99 and the FSA DIY removal and fitting tools are dead cheap on Wiggle.

@chak fitted a BB30 on my new Specialized 3 years ago that I only had to replace two weeks ago (with Rotor BB30 bearings) so he definitely knows what he's doing :)

  • Re. cycle industry and bearings, Eurofighter GMBH lead engineer/ aerodynamicist and keen amateur cyclist calling himself Hambini has a Youtube channel where he takes the piss out of appalling manufacturing standards in the bike biz re. tolerances etc.

Last night he put up a vid where he showed a top end Tifosi carbon frame with a PF BB shell that was drilled oval, not parallel and one side was higher than the other.

  • FWIW I did have a problem with creaking on this. Turned out to be the rear QR...

I ran it with wheels MFG gxp adapters and never had an issue.

Interesting, have just watched the video. Can’t believe someone actually commissioned an engineering expert to design and manufacture a proprietary bottom bracket for a fucking Tifosi frame. Send that shit back!
