What time is it? Watches and horology

I quite like the goth model for some reason.
And the root beer one.

Would probably pick up one for under a ton, but not £250.

The 4R-based ones rarely dip under 150, it’s the 7S models (no hacking / hand winding) that you can sometimes pick up for under a ton.

Those new Seiko 5 sports.... So they're basically skx style divers without the ISO diver rating. Booo. I do like the orange dial one but why they persist with the horrible gold gilt elements, blurgh.

Like the blue one but such a large case. Should have split two case sizes rather than 27 different colours for the one.

If it’s something you’re into you could get an SKX011 and swap the bezel for a stock SKX007 one. Then you get the look and the divers’ certification.

Decided to try it out on an old strap of similar leather and construction. Not too shabby I think.
Power reserve is 44,5 hours. Good enough for me.

It’s looking a lot nicer like that. The burnished leather is really in-tune with the watch. Maybe you’re right, that it was more that the other strap is new and unworn.

Please safe this Rolex and post some pictures when it's fixed! Maybe start a gofundme haha

Yeah really like that, looks great especially with the worn strap. Personally I wouldn’t be too fussed about the crown but I would get it serviced if the history is unknown and it’s also a gift. Be a shame for it to konk out!

Thats lovely. Only thing that spoils it for me is the cut off 6. Why not just remove it entirely? This ruins so many watches for me. Good job really

Visual balance. The empty space would upset the eye more than the cut off numeral. Same reason you see “IIII” for 4 instead of “IV”, it’s to balance the “XIII” on the other side of the dial.

There are other ways of handling it, but it’s one solution.
