I had this exact idea in mind for impending nuptials. I've been learning towards Otter Messer Anchor knives though...
Any pics of the engraved Opinels?

Nice one, enjoy. Mine is off to Devon soon, the "lanyard" will be replaced pronto as the thin one fitted looks a bit fragile & short.

Lanyard replaced, fits as a wrist loop too now.
Blade cleaned since pic.

I saw your post and bought this for my son for Christmas lunch table present. It's engraved with his name in the wood.

I'm looking for something that can be attached to me and is elastic enough to use in in the hand.

My bestie turned up today with a birthday present for me. It’s a hori-hori. Apparently a Japanese ‘soil knife’, cutting trowel, or whatever. All round chunk of badassery, I think it might be on my belt in the garden for a long time to come!

We got hori hori knives from Genus and they are so useful. Amazing for weeding and much more.
Must resharpen ours soon.

Lovely - where did you get it engraved?
-

Nice, I have the earlier Niwaki hori hori without that nice canvas sheath.
We’re off to Dorset this week and a quick google shows the farm we’re staying on is 20 minutes from the Niwaki shop, if that’s not a sign to upgrade the shears I don’t know what is...

Received a pair of their shears for my last Birthday, very satisfying to use and seem solid

I'm looking for a new knife for my allotment. Needs to have a folding and lockable blade and be strong enough for me to cut plants out of the ground for transplanting. Can anyone recommend anything
-
• #2415
Big Opinel?
-
• #2416
I didn't realise they locked into place. I'd prefer a slightly shorter stouter blade
-
• #2417
The company offer it as an extra. It was an extra €9.90

Big Opinel with the blade cut down?
No9 has a thicker blade.
-
• #2420
Problem with the farmers knife is it could close on my fingers when I'm trying to remove a plant. I need something idiot proof
-
• #2421
Does it have to fold?
-
• #2422
Out of curiosity how come you need such a beefy blade for cutting plants for transplanting?
-
• #2423
Cutting through the soil. Should probably use a trowel but its a faff.
I'd prefer it to fold it would look less threatening to the old folk down at the allotment
-
• #2424
A no.8 will be fine for that.
If it's for an allotment, what about one of the lockable Saks?

Could be useful to have a small saw and screwdriver.

Treat yourself, life is short,
Was to take the pressure off this UKPK that I've been using for years,
I'll admit I only bought that Harpy as my hero uses one, I heard Spyderco were ceasing production so I bagged one, beautifully made, fucking thing is surgical,
The Bug on the keyring is the best, most useful knife/tool I've ever had, I bought the guys in my family one each for xmas and they said the same, incredibly useful thing,
