I've got a shiny Marantz SD 3000 and a cheap NAD 6040 which both need testing.

Also have a Dolby noise reduction unit which I've been waiting for the chance to play around with, questionable as that technology may be!

Ok nice one - potentially interested in the NAD depending on price/condition. I think the shiny Marantz will be out of my range... Do you know anything about repairing tape decks by any chance?
