Well it always depends on your budget and what lenses you already have / what that new lens could give you (apart from the macro capability) - so if I had a a6300 and nothing but the stock lens so far I'd probably consider the 30mm macro - https://www.sony.com/electronics/camera-lenses/sel30m35

Brill thanks, looks like a good shout, I will check it out. Absolute top for budget would be £500 but if I can do the job for around £250 that's far more palatable. Focal length, this is where my knowledge is limited, I thought macro lenses tended to be much higher focal length than 30mm. Does longer focal length just mean you don't need to be as close to the subject?
I'm looking for a macro lens for my Sony a6300 for some jewellery shots. Bit of a noob but I've already taken some shots with the stock lens which came out okay but I'm looking to get closer and sharper. I'm going to try out focus stacking but figured a macro lens would be a good shout. Any advice or suggestions? The sigma 70mm macro caught my eye, would something like this do the job?
