My first experience with them was grand, so I ignored everyone repeatedly saying how bad they were. Currently also getting burned with my second pair.

Is the tyre fast? Then it is thin and will puncture more. Apparently only Conti GP 4S meet this magical actual toughness / fast criteria.

People conception of tyres and speed and toughtness is the same as "waterproof" jackets and breathe-ability: you just don't get to have both.
