Just felt like sharing this:
I finally found a suitable old Omega for my wifes 30th next month. She want's a bulls eye suverän, but this will have to do. According to serial number it's from (second half of) 1949, so exactly 40 years older than her, which is kinda fun.
Keeps time t about + 7.5 secs a day and I am testing power reserve now, currently at 30 h.
I made a strap and a case for it in the hope that she will put it in the case when not wearing it and thus not loose it too soon.
The case back had a hand scratched engraving that I decided to remove and try to restore something similar to the factory lathe marks underneath. Maybe not for the purists, but so be it.
Other than that I'd like to know your thoughts on condition and originality. i know the crown is a replacement and am looking into if I can change it myself if I can find the correct signed one.
