Nice - did it come with hub brakes from new? Have wondered about building a towpath bike with drums, but wondered about performance if I ever did have to go downhill.

I'm really not sure, the forks look a bit rattlecanned but there are no canti-bosses and no sign that there ever was... I'm inclined to think it was an aftermarket modification as I've never seen another conquest with them and also there are no braze-ons for the brake arms - they're just P-clipped to the frame.
I think my brakes need some serious attention and I hope they can be made to perform much better for downhills... fingers crossed!
