  • Pretty confident Carradice would have still sorted you out somewhat, the repair prices are very very good!

  • The few bits and pieces that carradice have repaired for me (including when it was my fault) they've just done for the cost of postage. They have excellent customer service.

  • Enjoying overloading my nylon audax

  • Undoubtedly.

It was a good opportunity for me to get some sewing awl practice in & get same day fix done. It has held up well so far this week too.

  • Very tidy job too, looks better than original.

  • does anyone know the thread size of the bolts on the side of the Carradice Bagman? (the ones that hold the rails in)

  • They are M5. Bottle cage, rack mounts etc, all the same.

  • Ta, the existing holes were a useful guide, thicker thread in the awl so I used every other hole instead.

  • Audax lightweight - no name tag:

  • Seems ideal for ultra minimal bike packing. Will report back when I've actually used it for something.

  • Have the same very thin and basic compare to the standard audax bag.

  • Picked up up a Zipped Roll fro the factory shop. One more for Christine but to be fair it is a scratch on the flap post production that is the issue

  • A wald 1372 and a carradice super c saddlebag would fit nicely together if you felt inclined to remove the side pockets, or strap them down somehow

  • i would have preferred if the whole bag were lined with the orange fabric.

other than that, it seems to do what it says on the tin.

  • OK that's pretty cool - interesting that it can be embossed like the leather.

  • Tried that before on my quest for front luggage, didn't work well at all.

Better off with some QR Straps for the bars and letting it sit naturally, or having a nitto style front rack to take the weight.

  • @Landslide, @ChasnotRobert, @Belagerent, can anyone chip in on how they are getting on with their Audax lightweight bag? I'm considering one vs getting a saddle pack like Topeak backloader or Rapha rear pack. Does the Carradice need a bagman support to work best? Is the total width 28cm or is that the main bit not including pockets? Cheers.

  • I've modified mine to include a Rixen & Kaul klickfix plate (as I'm running it as a large barbag rather than saddlebag). I think as stock, a bagman would be a good idea.
The 28cm width is the main compartment only. With the pockets, it's more like 44cm.

  • Ok thanks, thought it had to be wider than 28cm.

  • Mines fine. Mostly using it as a commuter bag. I haven't got a bagman support, but I use the bagman quick release, like this one:

    https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/luggage/carradice-bagman-quick-release-clamp/

Don't know if I need the support but I also don't mega load it. Mostly just clothes, lunch, d-lock. It does bump slightly against my legs occasionally but not in a way I've ever found annoying.

I replaced the leather strap with a ball bungee to make attaching and removing it from my frame even easier. It does make it very horizontal though as you can see in the pic I posted up thread.

  • Thanks, was wondering how you had attached it.
