He was our first choice winger but, after a protracted £60M move, started just 14 games for Man City last season. You will find a post from me somewhere where I said that I didn't think it would work out for him.
Ask Man City fans what they think of him...
*Edited, sounded stroppy

But that seems a bargain, compared to the £30M Chelsea paid for Drinkwater

Wes Morgan in his pomp would be worth £200m in today's market.
In fact he's still probably worth £10m

Scored the goal which denied Liverpool the league. For that we all salute him.

Arsenal and Everton front three are something to look forward to this season.

Ah, Yvel (seems apt) Leinad

Thanks Pep.

Our chairman has threatened to kill the manager if we don't get promoted, so at least this season is going to be interesting.

That’s the new #weartheshirt I suspect.
Looking forward to the real football starting tomorrow night.

Trophy number one in the bag, which is nice.

You sound like a Libpool fan, disappointed...
-
• #150864
How many times does it have to be said? The Charity Shield is a pre-season friendly and doesn’t count as a trophy.
-
• #150865
Unless your a Liverpool fan.

• #150866
Nope... not a trophy, doesn't count. Nice to win but meh.
Much better second half, should have won it then... city are rather good at penalties... better than Gini was anyway.

Wonder if this will gain any traction at all.

I think players should be free to decide if they want to play or travel. Player power at the top level is at an all time high. If they don't want to play because they feel tired they don't have to and they can always feign injury. If Harry Kane felt he was being forced back to early by Spurs after every ankle injury he has had he would just say he wanted to leave the club. Situation actually is that Kane rushes himself back too early. Son is free to decide if he wants to represent Korea or play for a club closer to home.

I’d love to agree with you, in particular on the Son point.
If he wouldn’t have played or didn’t win the Asian games he’d have lost two years of his contract due to military service. Skipping national games wasn’t an option, neither was Spurs resting him due to the Kane injury.
Player protection can’t be a bad thing in general.

On a climate change point: travelling 100k Km per year is bananas.
Also, all that running around for not much end product. V V Spursy.

not much end product
Pretty much singlehandedly won his team the Asian Cup . Imagine if any English player dragged a mediocre team to win the Euros... He also knocked Germany out of the World Cup

Very good point.
I was trying to mock spurs. What did he win with Spurs? -
• #150873
@jaw player protection is a must but also delicate balance between athletes pushing themselves above and beyond their limits to achieve greater things which wows the spectators and remaining safe. In the past clubs have clearly foprced players to play through pain that has health implications for the player in later life.

with Spurs looking to land Hysaj does that mean Poch is looking to play with a more disciplined defensive backline instead of employing full backs that can attack but can't defend? Is this the turning point Corny?
-

hysaj has been mentioned a couple of times in spurs transfer dispatches, with foyth going down (for an unspecified amount of time), they've cropped up again. He and Sakai from Marseille, were our options supposedly, hysaj is younger and can play left or right, so would be first choice I'd think.
And Danny Rose can defend!
Think with the arrival of Ndombele and hopefully one of Lo Celso or Fernandes, we'd be looking to progress the ball through the center of the pitch, and not rely so much on the super quick/long range counter.
Think we're looking to fix midfield this transfer window and do some long term tinkering with defense next summer window. There's only so much budget to spend and you don't want to turn over too much of the squad all at once.
Up there with The Emirates Cup.
