  • Crosspost from the Dads/ Mums thread: Any recommendations for tyres for a kids bike, size 24" (507)? Currently mini-m has some almost worn-out knobblies fitted and I think they're really hard work on the road. We don't get out cycling a lot so stamina levels aren't high, but I'd like to do some more exploring and build up the miles gradually. I need something that rolls fast on the road, but grips enough for towpath use and has enough volume to be comfy. We won't do any mudplugging in the near future. I'm torn between an MTB tyre with a smooth central strip (like the Schwalbe Landcruiser or Michelin Country J Tyre), which are tough, but heavy; or a CX tyre like the Schwalbe CX Comp or Continental Double Fighter, which are lighter but potentially not as robust.

  • I’d definitely go with the latter options. 32-35mm tyres will provide plenty grip and comfort on towpaths.
You can’t do a lot of skidding on them though, so if that’s a must get the tractor ones
