Did you get anywhere? also starting to look at tents, my other half won't deal with anything too small or close to your face when sleeping - so need a decent head height also.
Hubba Hubba NX has caught my attention but over your budget - looks nice but a bit pricey, then you need to buy the footprint too.
Looking for a recommendation for a backpacking tent. Doesn't need to be super-light; convenience, robustness and comfort are more what I'm after, but it will have to be carried (on public transport rather than up and down mountains):
Needs:
2 man or generous 1 man capacity
Pitches all in one go
Decent porch area for rucksack and boots
Less than £200
Less than 2.2kg
Wants:
Decent head height (fairly strong want)
Less than 1.8kg
Tub-style groundsheet for inner
Pockets/gear lofts inside
Less than £125
I've found quite a few that satisfy many of those requirements, but nothing that's perfect. The main issue seems to be that the really nicely lightweight tents all pitch flysheet first. I've thought about the MSR Elixir, Vango banshee and Coleman Cobra but none are quite right in all areas.
