Anyone on here have any experience of Bluesound streaming electronics products?

I just find it all a bit silly - if you’ve got the money to spend £500 on something that is right up in the ‘marginal gains’ zone, why ignore the less exotic but far more effective stuff? Especially when you’ve already committed yourself in a big way to sound quality over all other considerations.
I’ve posted my studio before - it’s not audiophile gear but it does have treatment. I think I also posted how shocked I was at the improvement when I installed it, despite knowing the theory and having dabbled with home-made stuff previously.

Cables. Monster cables! Do it!

• #6505
Lols, where’s that ‘audiophile grade’ LAN cable...

All so he can listen to Keane FFS.
Keane!
Takes a picture to show off his amazing hi-fi, and that's the record he chooses to put in pride of place.

See I would say that looks like a great system,
But my studio engineer friend reckons that "room treatment" is doing next to nothing, pointless even,
No bass traps in the corners that would make the most difference, nothing in the ceiling corners either, and two uncovered glass windows for the sound to reflect off, and he said "your speakers are shit" he recommends PMC or at the very least Yamahas, he also pointed out that the installation was messy and amateurish...
But what the fuck does he know? if it makes you happy that that is all that matters,
Just like that guy with the oil rig and space rockets living room.
Taking the piss out of the snake oil hifi scene is fine,
But singling out someone and being a cunt about them is just being a cunt. -

🤣🤣

Nah, listen with your ears, not with reddit upvotes. Room treatment is definitely where it’s at, all these people spending thousands on hifi and then installing them in reverb chambers is madness.
The best money I spent to improve the sound quality of my hifi went on soft furnishings 🤪

I wasn’t singling anyone out, just using a recent post as a typical example of the focus on gear. You seem to have taken it very personally. I deliberately didn’t mention the choice of music!
🙄
I’ll bite though, your ‘friend’ clearly only has a rudimentary grasp of acoustics (and can’t see the bass trapping at the back of the room), is stating the obvious with regards to it being an amateur installation, mid use in a domestic setting and sounds like they’re pretending to be knowledgable about speakers.I also have some waterfall graphs somewhere that quantify the difference between pre and post treatment. There are still compromises (large windows and nearly square cross section aren’t ideal) but the room doesn’t ring, bass is much flatter and it’s still lively enough to get nice takes of acoustic instruments.

You're still digging,
You remind me of one of those snotty rich kids at school, the ones that snigger and take the piss out of the poorer kids clothes, then you try to justify it by pretending to be more intelligent than everyone else,
You know, those kids that everyone hates because they're cunts.
Thats how you comes across, as a cunt that seeks to belittle others achievements, in order to feel superior.
So fuck if he wants to spend his money on a fancy power supply, it's his money, good on him.

everybody seems happy with their philosophy re: hifi, yet no ones happy

Well I thought it was funny.....

Where's the dramatic hammer?
I think we should be told.
-
• #6517
Haha wow, you’ve really taken this badly. Don’t you think that the snake oil hifi scene leads to this? Where people spend their money on impressive looking gadgets rather than things of proven benefit? Calling it silly seems mild to me.
-
• #6518
Don't, by any means, let your little spat get in the way of answering my question.
WHERE'S THE BLOODY DRAMATIC HAMMER?
-
• #6519
It’s next to my Lego Saturn V on top of our piano. For maximum synergetic crystalline lattice meta-acoustic alignment, obviously.
-
• #6520
It's not a proper hammer unless it sees some action. :)

• #6521
It’s how I summon the help.

You sound a bit embarrassed now, which is a start,
ahahaha I'm not the one screenshotting peoples facebook posts to snigger and feel superior about,
Proven to who? you sound like one of the fucking snake oil sales people with your technical wanking and waterfall graphs,
I genuinely don't give a fuck what other people spend their money on, whether its a fancy power supply or sticking office partitions to their ceilings,
If it makes you feel batter and you're happy with it,
Good for you. -
• #6523
Ahaha, I knew it was somewhere! :)
-
• #6524
I'm embarrassed for you carrying on like a cunt tbh.
There was chat about mad audiophile fb groups and I posted an anonymised example. You can continue this bizarre meltdown if you like but some things can be measured and quantified, some things can't and you carrying on like a cunt won't change it.
The benefit of acoustic treatment is proven to everyone who wants to build a space that sounds the way they want it. Again, you carrying on like a cunt won't change physics.
Did lol at office partitions.

I was just taking the piss out of you taking the piss out of someone,
You just didn't get it is all, screenshooting someones hifi from facebook and ridiculing it is genuinely fucking embarrassing, and you do seem embarrassed because now you've got sand in your vagina,
I bet that in the real world you're like Jeremy from The Peep Show,
Nothing personal, ahaha
"a scientifically justified program of improvement"
Fuck me, I bet you're fun at parties......
If it makes him happy then what's the problem?
Looks a decent enough system he's built up,
Any pics of your rig in its acoustically treated room?
