I guess the bit from Turin up is a bummer, and I've no idea what traffic in the north of Italy is like. I've ridden along the north-of-the-alps option; it's effectively Swiss national cycle route no. 5 and it means a lot of urban around Zürich and the wind in your face between Neuchatel and Lausanne, but otherwise OK.
Engadin has better scenery, but it's a race.
On the move again, she has confounded my expectations by heading west. Obviously I haven't spent any time planning a route but I was anticipating her going back down to Landeck and then up the Inn valley and the Engadin towards Como.
