Really cool. This era of GT had some of my favourite paint jobs.

So I’m about to service my dads 1994 Raleigh Max Cromo I. It’s nothing special but it’s what he rode every weekend with me on my Ascender.
It’s been hung up in the garage for the last 20 years so will be getting a spruce up for pottering round the lanes of Burgundy where my folks now reside.
Plan is for cruiser bars to get the fit closer to his 70s enduro/trials bikes, Wald, ergo grips and semi slick tyres. Probably will want a new saddle but might leave that up to him.
If I could find a strutted rear crud catcher set as well that’d be rad to keep to the mx feel.Altus group, cantis all in good nick. It has gripshift. Should I ditch it for thumbies or is it good enough for pootling?
Tyre? Good roads with dusty verges, occasional farm/forest tracks. Not his bike(awaiting delivery) but same model.

My 1993 Windriver is ready for my own "Tour of the Alps". Finished it with (non era-correct) stuff from the spares box.

Picked up my pa’s Raleigh today, bit rougher than expected but will clean up ok. Bars and stem are shot, brakes and drivetrain just need a good scrub really. Dcd is cool, remember buying it for my dads birthday.

On a whim while collected my dads bike I spaffed on this Wahoo on eBay and picked it up on the way home. It’s basically unused and fully serviced by a really lovely old bloke with a garage full of everything from bso’ he was mending to a fine array of 90s road and mtb stuff.
The only thing I’ll def change is the tyres, they’re brand new but hideous beyond belief. I don’t need this bike so might ride it for a month and pass it on..

Gripshift- keep it or bin it?
Have never played with it before but having acquired two bikes in one day with it it’s got me wondering how come no one these days seems to have it.. -

I remember having a bike with Sachs gripshift when I was in my teens. It worked ok but I always preferred the feel of thumb or rapidfire shifters. I've just put a set of XT thumbies on a new build and they feel great. Not bad for something that are probably 25-30 years old.

I found some 7sp rapid fire in my box o bits. Sorted.
Pulled the Raleigh apart this evening. Will take it to work so I can deep clean it all before bits arrive. Hubs need a rebuild but bb, freewheel and hs still buttery smooth so won’t touch em. -

60 miles of gravel today with my 72year old father and 35year old biek - both survived. Hub brakes need attention (crap on long descents)

Decided that I’m gonna sell that Gary Fisher Wahoo. £80 is what I paid and I’d like that back if anyone is interested.
More or less as new but the plastic housing on the left hand shifter has cracked but still works.17” frame fits me fine at 5’10 with plenty of post on show.
Altus group, sram gripshift
Ugly yellow wall hybrid tyres(brand spanking new and quite quick tho)
Drivetrain and wheels are spotlessPics are the sellers, all I’ve done is ride it round the block a few times.
£80, collected E17, would consider trade/part x

Anyone know what model of Marin this is?
Been looking for a new run about town/commuter after the last one was kindly stolen from me and this this with diff gearing and big slickish tyres might fit the bill

Awesome, many thanks, its on sale locally and I´m gonna go and check it out this eve after work, they only want 80 quid for it, so unless there are any hidden surprises.....
Fingers crossed there may be a new incarnation of it in the near future!
