• Again, for me, the more interesting discussion is how many leave/remain supporters saw decisive propaganda/false news and voted accordingly.

  • Have you seen the great hack on Netflix? Fucking terrifying. Basically investigating Cambridge Analytica and Facebook. Essentially democracy is broken. They fixed Brexit and Trumps election using targeted propaganda and fake news.

  • Democracy is shit but it’s the best we have

  • Yeah, I've seen it, although most of the CA stuff I already knew.

Propaganda/fake news filters are the future:

But who watches the watchmen? Crowd-sourced blockchain solutions perhaps:

  • Is it any good?

  • They fixed Trumps election

Did they? Or is this another liberal fantasy?

Trump didn't win because of fake news or because of Russia or any of that conspiratorial bullshit. Trump won because Hillary Clinton was an outstandingly shit candidate. Trump didn't turn out some record number of voters - his share of the vote was smaller than Mitt Romney's in 2012, and look what happened to Mittens. Had Hillary not run such a spectacularly shit campaign - like maybe if you want to win Wisconsin then you should try campaigning in Wisconsin - she would've beaten Trump comfortably. But for some mystical fucking reason her message of 'America is already great, I deserve to be president, stand aside you dirty plebs' didn't chime with the people.

Liberals can't face up to the reality of having lost or face up to the why of their defeat, so they retreat into this comforting derangement where Trump stole the election*, where they were cheated out of power, where they didn't really lose, not really.

*there is a serious conversation to be had about the impact of the changes to the voting rights act, I won't deny that.
