Not strictly shoegaze, but shoegaze-influened

Top band in my view. One of the best. Keep waiting for the next album or another band that's on par with this.

I got it yesterday at Phonica, so I'll be giving it a spin over the next few days. Interested to hear what they've done after the gap, and the Mojave period.

We played with them once... Nice kids, awful music...

Was wondering why you were in this thread

Sure there's a top 100 shoegaze albums but that doesn't mean there are 100 good ones.

Never. Knew. This. Thread. Existed.
Ace. Alvvays ^^ first album was decent and thought the slowdive album was excellent.

If you like long lists of albums see the recent article in Far Out Magazine

Always been a big fan of Lush, Cocteau Twins and of Curve, so nice to see them in the list.

Hard to argue with 1 and 2 on the list, but after that...Psychocandy at 24 is pretty silly.
Missing from the list (off the top of my head):
No Joy - No Joy
Boo Radleys - Everything's Alright Forever
Catherine Wheel - Ferment
Diiv - Is the Is Are
M83 - Dead Cities
Lilys - Eccsame the Photon Band
Moose - XYZ
Ride - Going Blank Againrun out of steam, will revisit

Any of you guys follow Sonic Cathedral? I'm not really a fan of that stuff but an old DJ-ing mate runs the label... I thought he was nuts when he started,Who gives a shit about all this stuff? I thought to myself...

Yeah, that dude Nat, right? Very nice guy and currently the patron saint of shoegaze in the UK.

Yeah, used to be one of the Rock'n'Roll Soul boys before he started SC up... Very nice chap, we DJ'd at each other's nights a couple of times...

I really like the Early Years. SC did a great job releasing their 2nd album and re-releasing the first as well as a couple of singles. Real love and care put into the physical product design/packaging. SC also have an interesting 'singles' club, though I've yet to sign up. No idea how they make a living out of the venture though.

As far as I know Nate still has a job, it's a tough business... Marc Jones who was (still is?) Art Editor at Uncut and NME does a bunch of the graphics, he's very good...
I worked with them at both of those magazines, my mate was Production Editor on both titles so I used to get quite a few shifts over there... Strange places to work, always made me think of...

Have had really lofty hopes for Diiv next album. Really hope it's better than that song. Drumming stands out to me as especially crappy. All of it is a little too math rock at times as well.

I actually prefer the new song to anything on their previous albums :(.

New bassist, new drummer, new sound. I like the new song, bit of a late-era sonic youth vibe. Previous drummer Colby Hewitt was a monster, I imagine he was difficult to replace.
New slowdive? I think it's genuinely incredible. Even ignoring the inherent credit that due just for the fact that it exists. It's so good.
