Sram Etap Indexing help!

Recently fitted Etap shifters and derailleurs but finding the rear cog is brushing my wheel when in the very lowest gear going up hill.

I can make micro-adjustments and trim all the way across to prevent this but then shifting becomes very jumpy.

I am wondering if making my chain tighter would help pull the drive further away from the wheel?

Im also running a very small rear cassette and wondering if this is a cause of the problem?

Isn't Etap 11 speed?

Yes, and I was expecting compatibility issues t0 cause poor shifting until I get around to changing the rear cassette, but thought id be able work within the range available.

But why? The spacing for a 10 speed is different to a 11 and etap is programmed for 11 speed spacing?

I have a spare 11 speed 5800 cassette if you want it to tide you over and you're in London. Don't fuck shit up, just use it as it's supposed to.

Maybe it's because it's early, but I'm having a very hard time imagining this.

What exactly is hitting the wheel? Do you mean the rear derailleur perhaps?

Sorry, yes I meant the rear derailleur is *just brushing the spokes in the lowest setting.

I have a feeling my chain isnt tight enough or I need a different hanger but definitely going try changing the cassette to 11 speed.

Eh?

The 10 speed cassette is the issue. Chain tension has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Even with a totally slack, uncut chain and correct limits set, your derailleur shouldn't touch spokes.

Check your limit screws before you go for a ride or it'll be an expensive walk home.

Why would anyone buy top of the line 11 speed electronic shifters and derailleurs and then try to use it in a 10 speed drivetrain?
And why would getting the chain tighter would solve it? Unless it's dangling in a bad angle, then you'll need a new hanger too
