I don't think they were to far apart. I'd guess the Doms pull as far as they can and then Thomas to protect Bernal if needed. If they get close enough to the top then a free run for both.

Well there's two big climbs tomorrow and ineos have looked shakey, domestique-wise, every single day. So apart from poels they're likely to be on their own from quite early. Surely thomas should cover attacks for his teammate in yellow?

Yep. Ineos don't care who wins, as long as one of them does. So whatever they need to do to defend the jersey.
