  • had a couple of people pass me to stop 50 metres further on and block the road to turn right, forcing me to stop on my way home this evening, and someone close pass me on a left hand bend with a car oncoming, to then take a r/h filter lane about 2 seconds later.

why the fuck are these douchebags so fucking impatient?

a 5 second wait from the drivers in all three instances and there wouldn't have been any issues.

  • I bet he hates it when cyclists don't even acknowledge his presence!

  • I think I’ll be heading back to bus commuting the next few days. 24+ degrees at 8/9am sounds Too hot for me to cycle on

  • Glad I’m not commuting this week

  • 24+ degrees and you’d rather be on a rush hour bus than a bike?

  • An upstairs seat next to a window might be a better option

  • I'm feeling like a cooked crab just thinking about that scenario.

Must have ridden home sub 17kph today and it was lovely.

  • Police pulling over e-scooters on London Bridge last night, wonder if we're going to see more of that from now on. Hopefully will catch drivers on phones etc too.

  • Was a couple of rozzers at south end of Blackfriars this morning.
Assumed they were targeting evil cyclists but they didn’t seem bothered by some low level red light jumping.
So wonder if they were after scooters...

  • wonder if we're going to see more of that from now on

Only until the press forget about it.

Hopefully will catch drivers on phones etc too

Not in the news, so (probably) not a priority

(takes cynic's hat off and sits down)

  • Sweaty at 8am today. Eww

  • Working from home today but 38 degrees and 40 degrees tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

  • The cycle in today was a bit sweaty. Probably not helped by the fact that I slept till quite late as well, I'll try to commute a bit earlier the next two days of heat - looks like Friday might be OK again...

  • tried to reign myself in and stay below 15mph on my commute this morning which kind of worked...

had a couple more close passes this morning - seems that with less congestion on the roads due to the school hols, it allows people to drive quicker than usual and the close passes at speed are more noticeable/ unnerving

  • Woke up with a cracking cold this morning and considered calling in sick... but remembered that I can quarantine myself in a beautiful air conditioned office instead.

Bring on the hell that is a hot Thursday, in said air conditioned office.

  • seems that with less congestion on the roads due to the school hols, it allows people to drive quicker than usual and the close passes at speed are more noticeable/ unnerving

    Indeed.

  • So not content with 30+c let’s add a headwind.
    #fuckingtired

  • yeah but it’s a dry heat?

  • I swear I've had a bleeding headwind both ways for weeks now. The exception being the morning it rained, when there just wasn't any wind.

  • Much evaporating. Phew.

  • Never seemed to be so blustery when I was young

  • Someone has been stabbed on the street outside so shortest commute yet, got to the front door then told to turn around and stay in unless I really needed to go out. Still going out to work in a few hours just messed up my morning plan of going to the shops as I'm unsure they would let me back in to go back out which would then mess up work.

  • Their response to me saying that I'd like to see some action taken towards him was that he will be interviewed/a 'thorough investigation' will be held, but that they cant update me due to HR policies and GDPR regulations.

A bit odd, I don't want any of his private information but I would like to know the outcome, not sure how that affects GDPR considering that's all about personal data as far as I understand.

Tbh, I'm not sure where requesting the cctv would get me. I cant see any action being taken by other parties as no physical harm or damage to property was done.

  • They won't tell you anything because they want to keep a lid on it and also probably won't do much at all.
CCTV could be used to give to the police to pursue a driving conviction.
Recently a taxi driver used his vehicle to force me to the side of the road as a punishment for riding primary. I sent the video to the police and he got sent on a drive awareness course and he never actually hit me or knocked me off.

  • i was considering getting the train instead of cycling tomorrow - but east midlands trains have advised people not to travel by rail tomorrow...
