Give the guys at Ward’s fireplaces a call? They’ve always been very helpful to me even though I’ve never got around to spending any money with them, sure they’ll install one if they’re not supplying it.

I had a Banham guy round to look at our place after an attempted burglary. I caught the burglar on camera trying to jemmy our patio doors open. Fortunately, I spotted him in time and sounded the Arlo alarm and he ran off. I had four sets of locks installed, front and rear, plus bolts and hinge bolts, it came to about £1200. The installer did the job in about two hours; it would have taken me two days. Now I have one key pattern that opens all four locks, so fewer keys to carry round. Certainly helped me worry a bit less.

If you buy some deck boards I can throw some together for you to size. Have a few lengths of pressure treated 2x2 to use to hold them together. Did something similar but larger for the sister in law recently (check the 'gram)

Any one heard of or used Kuchenmobel (there is an umlaut over the U and O) looks like a german company that are distributed by homebase.
The units come pre assembled for germany allegedly.
Ikea kitchens are out.

Really? Fucking awesome. That would be immensely appreciated.

Aye. Lead times may be mini_com dependent but would take no time to throw together.

Sounds as if it's the ban hammer for burglars. :)

So I am looking to put up some twinslot shelving in my newly renovated shed/outhouse. The boss has decided for some reason that if we have metal shelves they have to be perforated as she doesn't like plain shelves if they're not wooden. Problem is I can't find them anywhere online, but I know they exist as we have some in the cupboard under the stairs left when we moved in...
Any ideas?! -

National Gird left this card with me - presumably I have to get and pay for an engineer? Anyone know how long and how much something like this might be?

Have you looked at IKEA Mulig?
-
• #17787
No, just took a look and it's not really what i'm after. If anything IKEA then more like ALGOT, but still not exactly what i'm after. Will probably buy brackets and stuff from B&Q / Screwfix etc

Sorry, I mean the fact it's freestanding is not really what i'm looking for. The shelf with holes in though is a yes

Take a photo of your electrical fuse board and we can tell you if you need anything done.
Wouldn't worry about it, many places don't have earth bonding. -

Final sentence - surprising use of the sole 'his'...!

electrical fuse board
But it says "Gas installation pipework" ?!

We've had much the same - some guy apparently arrived in the middle of the working day without notice, and left a similar card at every address he couldn't access and inspect. Crappy phone pic shows what he was looking for. FWIW we've assumed ours is ok and ignored the card - the chap that does our gas appliance servicing has since said it's acceptable.

Ah this is very close, has led me to search for ventilated and vented shelves now though which could be the ticket. Amazing how perforated shelves don't exist but ventilated do...

It's not quite DIY but as part of our house renovation we need to get 3 ceiling skimmed to remove artex ( down to picture rail).
Seems to be 2/3 days work and we're in Reigate.
We've been quoted around £1100, does that sound about right?

What's a sensible white paint to paint mdf shelves in a cupboard? They will be primed first .

Yes, your gas pipe needs to be bonded to the earth at your consumer unit (fuseboard).
It's basically just a metal clip around the pipe with an earth cable running up to the consumer unit (like the picture @MrE posted), but your surprise at the two things being related suggests you might want to get someone in ;)

2-3 days work for how many people. If it's 2 people + materials then that's reasonable.
Picked up a lovely cast iron fireplace with stone surround. Any recommendations for fireplace installation firms in SE London?
