- Always grease the threads

Heres my post from 3 weeks ago:
rj #15
Samuli #84
Goatandtricycle #141
Hippy #142
Frank9755 #155
Swissy #167
Peterboynton #208Others I know include:
Ivan cornell, lives in London and rides fixed but dk if he's on here, is doing it singlespeed
Mike Sheldrake, aka Shell, done loads of ultras, overtook me three times on indypac
Chris Herbert, fast audaxer, TT rider and chain smoker (I exaggerate, not really chain) . Started in 2016 with broken shoulder and had to pack. Should be podium contender.
Matthew falconer, came second last time so should be up there too.
Stuart Mccormick, met him at the start of indypac. 5 minutes later he came down on tramlines, broke his shoulder and was the first dnf.
Mikko, ridden every tcr
Doug Migden, done almost every one, another indypac veteran. -

Cool, thanks.
Met Chris Herbert on an audax a few weeks ago and was quite surprised when lit up a ciggie!

Shoes stretched, chain cut, still deciding on bag layout, packing being avoided obvs

Yes, it's surprising nowadays if someone doing sport smokes, but people like Serge Blanco and Ruud Gullit apparently chain-smoked in the '80s, so it's not a showstopper to athletic achievement. I don't know when top cyclists stopped smoking but I expect they all used to do it back in the day.
Actually Mike had a couple at the 2016 finishers' party. No idea how often he smoked.

I'm not packing today. There's still Tuesday!
Was thinking of going for another ride tomorrow.

We're staying at Luton tomorrow night so the latest we can pack is tomorrow night. Dunno what's happening with work so best to get it done today.

All I know is it always takes longer than I expect.
I'm just going to do an early taxi up there on Weds am. Start will be 4am BST so it will help with getting adjusted

Thankfully I didn't actually put the bike back together fully since TP so I don't have to spend an hour undoing my armrests. :)
I didn't think of the time change acclimation, I was just trying to 'fuck up my sleep less' (technical terminology).

7km and 300m if you go up the goat track. But either way, would be a major pain.
I expect it will be fixed by the time I get there! -

I was using car routing in RWGPS so guess it didn't pick up whatever you're using.

Are you trying to go up the extension of the road to this place? On satellite view it seems to have a trail but RWGPS won't route through it.

Or, are you not going back to the far side of the bridge to "do as much of the parcours as possible"?
-
• #1696
This is what I did.
It will route on RWGPS using the OSM Cycle map.
I reckon it would be quicker pushing my bike up there than going round by the road -
• #1697
Ah, yeah, I never remember to use the OSM maps. Skinny showed me once about checking for motorways with the colour-coding on them but I always forget. I thought there might be a way through there but didn't spend much time on the detour.

You could add Tom Probert, I met him in Normandy. He'd just finished the Normandicat - really nice guy.
He placed well on the GBDuro as well (7th). He's riding as a pair this year Cap no. 245b -

What's the best way to follow you guys? I've been lurking this thread so basically twitter for hippy / instagram for the rest?
I did one about 10 pages up, on phone now but will dig out later
