  • Hippy beat me to it ;)

  • I've heard of gene doping but I didn't realise Britain was already doing it... and so blatantly as well!

  • lol, can't believe someone actually wrote this
    https://cyclingtips.com/2019/05/how-to-tell-adam-and-simon-yates-apart/

Ignoring the facial hair (which we can’t rely on as a long-term way to separate them) there are three main ways to tell the twins apart when you see them side-by-side:

    – Simon’s head is slightly wider at the top.
    – Adam has a scar on his chin (from a crash at the 2015 Tirreno-Adriatico).
    – Simon’s front teeth are slightly angled while Adam’s are straighter across.

  • Surely rather than climbing off you just soft-pedal and take no turns at the front, and when it gets spicey slide off the back.

  • Doesnt seem to make much sense unless he has already signed to a new team. Having a tantrum cannot have done his transfer value any good.

  • That's my point. Seems to be more serious if he'd give up a likely Tour stage.

  • Rumour has it he's not happy with the sponsor wheels so he offered to buy better wheels himself and put sponsor stickers on them, but they wouldn't let him. Supposedly a 50 watt difference, enough to eliminate his chances at his main goal pissing him right of. And then team orders to work for the break might have been the final straw, causing a tantrum.

Or he got strawberry taste gels in the feedzone despite clearly stating he prefers raspberry.

  • Supposedly a 50 watt difference

what magic wheels are these? I need them

  • Lightweight Meilenstein, mega aero.

  • I doubt it’s that much unless he was on 32h open pros.

  • A stroppy Australian - say whaaat?

  • It’s not the first time he’s fallen out with a team. The question is, is the investment in him worth the return?

I don’t think it is, he’s a decent TT rider but he’s never going to bother the podium positions in a GT.

  • What's a better return on investment? A stage win in the Tour or podium at the Tour?
In the normal press I reckon you'd hear about a stage winner more than a podium finisher.

Anyway, his sudden depareture will get more press than any of the rest of their riders will get.

  • Surely there are teams that will look past that for the potential for ITT stage wins in GTs

Edit: Hippy had already said it

  • And Bahrain-Merida have pissed away a shot of a stage win. Which is nice.

  • Will he be content with occasional TT win rider wages? He seems to think he deserves leadership status, without ever showing leadership attributes.

  • +

  • Don’t think he’d be much appreciated in Quickstep or Sky...

  • Was there talk of Benoot going to Sky or did I make that up?

  • It’s not the first time he’s fallen out with a team.

    Oh?

  • He's someone who could pick a fight with his own shadow.

Dennis’ track career yielded two rainbow jerseys and an Olympic silver medal in the team pursuit. In 2012, he placed 5th at the Tour Down Under and his final act as an under-23 rider was to take silver in the Worlds time trial, but nebulous murmurings about issues of character seemed to blind many to his obvious talent.
“There were things going around at the time from sources that shouldn’t be trusted. People were saying, ‘Stay clear of Rohan Dennis, he’s a trouble maker. Don’t waste your time on him.’ And this was from people who should have been looking after me,” Dennis says.
“A person who has helped me through my career was told not to go near me. There was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that halted my progression to becoming a pro. But it made me in some ways the rider I am now. I’m not going to name anybody, but I’d say: ‘Thanks for trying to screw me over because it made me better.’”

  • First time I've seen a reluctantrum

  • Where does he say he deserves leadership? He's done alright in stage races - top 20 in last year's Giro, beat Porte who's also supposed to be a GC guy in the TDU and 2nd in this year's TdS. Nothing much more in GTs but they already have Nibbles.
