Was that the one from Caversham? Edit - it was. Gutted for you!

Thanks. Am sad, but bright side is new bike. Another Kona Unit is the basic choice, looks good in 2019 green, but I'd love a Stooge. Building it up myself is OK, it's the choosing of parts that's hard. Too much choice.
Then whatever I buy my friend will tell me how badly I've chosen :)

I had a Mk2 Stooge. Really rated it. Had two wheelsets - one light 29er with xc tyres and one 650b with 3" tyres for silly stuff.
It is a fantastically capable rigid (or bouncy with the newer versions) bike. Sold mine as it was way overkill for the riding I do.
Dont rule out a singular swift for something more xc style though. Still a great bike.

Singular don't seem to have any stock in at the moment.
I'm torn between a 2nd hand, but essentially brand new Stooge in green (built up with decent components for £1.1k ) and a new, blue frame.
Buying a frame means sourcing and fitting components of course, which I have doubts about.

New Swift is coming, end of summer I think

Dumb question that I am sure has been answered.
Trails with up then some down 32-18 going to be an acceptable ratio?
Bored of chain drop and like my silly middleburn cranks. -

32/16 is a good place to start. Adjust according to fitness, riding style, terrain etc.

Stooge is a bit more upright which is no problem unless you really want to do serious miles fast in which case the swift does have the edge. If you can live with that limitation then they are a more capable bike than the swift imo.
If you do get a stooge try the moto bars - so good!
Doesn't really seem a downside to going the second hand route as long as the components are what you want.

Thanks! This is me trying to avoid spending money and thinking I should’ve just bought your Ritchey
-
• #2962
In that case singlespeed is rubbish and you should definitely buy my Ritchey ;)
-
• #2963
I'd get the 2nd hand one if it was blue...
But will go see it this weekend and check it out. The seller isn't too far from me.

• #2964
Hah I may well reach that decision next week when I try it out.

That Stanton is nice but out of my price range, but, what else is there?
Am vexed, current choices are: do I buy a new Kona Unit bike at £900 or a Stooge frame for £550.
Must be other options to further confuse me: 29er, hardtail, rigid forks, either SS or geared, UK made, OTP.

• #2967
Apologies for hijacking the thread for classifieds but I’d be willing to sell the frame(headset, seatclamp, boost dropouts with the axle) with ss dropouts, wheels and forks for £550. Drop me a PM if interested.

Classic Swift S/H? Big Brother?
-
• #2969
There's someone selling what looks like a decent Big Brother on here now.
-
• #2971
Had an eye on this myself! If anyone else is planning on putting in a serious bid probably worth a shout to avoid pushing up the price.
-
• #2973
I've been speaking to the seller about this one, possibly meeting to view this weekend.
Seems a good price I think. Not that any of those components mean much to me, but my spendy friend gives it the thumbs up.

No, but I want to. Budget more for a plus wheel on the front.
