  • Brake pads @brickman are an emotive subject as everyone has their belief. For my 2ps worth for brembos I like either the brembo oe pads or bendix pads. Both aren't cheap but I like the feedback and feel. But that probably is all in my head.

    @hugo7 Usual thing is check the sliding pins are free, then I clean the discs surface with an angle grinder with a wirebrush attachment to remove the pad residue. Also clean out the holes in the disc with a drill bit then rebed the pads. Ride up to 60 or 70 then sharp brake to0 about 10mph and do that a few times and think that is a good way to bed any pads car or bike.

    Also insurance does not seem to follow any logic, there is a thread on MSE showing the logic.

    Likewise. I'd much rather have progressive brakes that have a bit more feel. With EBC's it used to be ON/OFF. With Vesrah I can really yank on them, but get a good feel of limits. Even dabbled in trail braking with them with good results.

    Which ones? SD series, VD-JL, or ZD-CT? Their website isn't that helpful.

    I gave the front calliper a light clean, and the pads a good scrub. There is life left, but not much so I do need to buy a replacement set soonish. Annoyingly the pistons have some areas of corrosion so that's another job. Luckily it's all close to the pad and unlikely to come into contact with the seals.

    If anyone else has any input that would be good. Bearing in mind that the main use is mixed weather commuting rather than a race track.
