I managed to avoid that potential trap by taking daughter down on the bike seat to Richmond Park to see the deer. Only I thought there weren't going to be any deer - which would not have gone down well - but luckily there were a couple of herds just before we left the park. Back home by the Thames path and River Brent gave me an extra session of gravel training on a fully-loaded bike.
A1 is definitely not rideable. There is either one or two roads that run parallel. As far as I can see they are both open to bikes.
The guy at W5 Physio's wife comes from Serbia so I was talking about the race. He said that the A1 has tolls so the parallel roads have a lot of traffic from people who don't want to pay.
Ealing Beer Festival!
