Plenty of decent second hand Orange Crushs/Clockwork for a grand.
When looking for a bike make sure that the frame fork and groupset add up to the cost of the bike, as you'll probably change the contact points and the wheels will either be terrible, or boat anchors or both. If it's got a dropper - bonus.
