Calibre Bossnut gets you full squish for around a grand and it’s highly rated.

Go second hand. Sub 10 kilo carbon cube with decent forks and full xt can be had for £800. Otp will have zero resale value.

A bit over budget, but this from Bird comes well equipped
If you're after something more XC racey, then perhaps look at Canyon or Trek?
Unless of course you don't want aluminium, in which case all these suggestions are terrible

Nukeproof Scout Sport is a grand on the nose and very upgradeable and excellent if you're after a hardtail... available in 27.5 or 29.
