  • Went to see Dylan in Hyde Park yesterday along with 60,000 other people.
    What a gig!

A good balance between crowd faves including: Simple twist of fate, Blowing in the wind, Make you feel my love, Ballad of a thin man, Like a rolling stone, with some lesser known songs like Early Roman kings and Gotta get to heaven before they close the door.

His voice, raspy and growly though in terms of understanding the words, very clear. In fact while he reinterpreted his songs in terms of changing the tunes and intonation, making identifying tracks difficult at time, the lyrical clarity made this easier.

He played keyboard throughout, just standing up and walking towards the front of the stage after each song. And at the end of the gig he just stood there with his hand on his hip as if he was proclaiming 'I'm Bob Dylan, deal with it...'

For me a highlight was a sweet acoustic version of Girl from the North Country, and a rich bluesy version of Love Sick.

Well worth the (high) price of admission.
    (Neil Young was good too)
