  • Secret Pro (on the daily CyclingTips email) is claiming that the reason for the Ineos-Lightweight deal is that the team are struggling to get the Pinarello F12's to the 6.8kg weight limit. This sounds odd to me - I thought teams were regularly adding weight to team bikes to bring them up to the limit - but can't find a fully-built weight quoted online after a quick search

  • That whole thing seems strange to me. Although light, isn’t the rim design about ten years old? Would they not create more drag over a stage than the modern Shimano equivalent? I’d have thought the only scenario it would be a benefit would be to attack and get a gap on a summit finish, but that’s only going to have come after many KMs of up and down.
